As part of our Persistent Storage team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving our database infrastructure. Your role within the Kingdom
Our job is to build effective, stable and reliable large scale infrastructure tools and services for our platforms, games and product teams. We engineer and provide the shared infrastructure platform servicing all of our games, as well as environments for developers and supporting tech like observability, log management and event transport. This also includes troubleshooting distributed systems and resolving production incidents.
For this role you will join the team responsible for migrating terabytes of active live data from an ecosystem with hundreds of shared MySQL instances, to a new architecture on Spanner in the cloud, using a near- zero- downtime solution. Aiming to provide our games and services with clear monitoring and effortless integration.
Skills to create thrills:
- Feel at home with cloud technologies, specifically GCP and their services
- Experience working with MySQL production environments
- Development skills in Python, and some knowledge of Perl, SQL, Java, or similar
- Experience automating and orchestrating distributed systems as well as creating internal tools to simplify maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of monitoring systems like OpenTSDB, InfluxDB, Grafana, log management systems like Graylog or ELK
- Orchestration frameworks like SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform etc
- Understanding of how CI/CD pipelines work
- Comfortable with the Linux command line & its performance tools
- Able to communicate proficiently in written and spoken English
