Senior QA Technician – New Sci-Fi FPS IP (12-month Maternity Cover)

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Technician to join our brand-new and exciting First-Person Shooter IP based at our studio in Horsham, West Sussex. This will be a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
As a Senior QA Technician on the team, you will be technically minded and looking to challenge yourself in a role that includes both working as part of a team and on individual assignments. will involve assisting the Console QA Graphics & Compatibility Lead in running the day to day of the Engine and Platform team.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, with an excellent eye for detail, and can apply a methodical approach to tasks and problem solving to find and accurately log defects.
Key Responsibilities
The primary functions of the role are to find, grade and report defects completely and concisely and aid in the reproduction and further investigation of issues as required. Communicating key defects, feedback, and testing requirements to stakeholders in both QA and the rest of the development team. As a Senior QA Technician, you will be given a degree of autonomy to generate work and achieve your own objectives.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Supervise the creation of test cases and test scenarios by the test team assigned to you, as well as the creation of test cases for your own area of ownership
- Be responsible for bug quality ensuring that logged bugs have sufficient information, appropriate to each type of issue raised. Acquiring in depth knowledge of core features for titles in development and use in house tools to improve bug quality and accuracy
- Assist and collaborate with the QA Lead when additional work is added or needed
- Assist the QA Lead when needed and provide advisement on test requirements when appropriate
- Be responsible for recording test results and task progress daily, including completion info status, in the requested formats as well as issues regression and verification of defects that have been fixed
- Organise a small team of testers assigned to specific areas
- Run playtests and focus group tests with clear objectives and qualitative results
- Be a role model to other members of staff, by being approachable, positive, and willing to share your knowledge and experiences with others
- Propose improvements to process or test approach as well as follow the process and approach set without detriment
- Show excellent quality standards on personally logged issues.
This role is a 12-month fixed term position only. All applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to relay important information
- Previous experience within an embedded QA team at a game development studio
- Previous experience working with Console titles
- Proficient time management and organisational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and meet set deadlines and priorities
- A passion for video games and a desire to be part of the creative process involved in developing video games
- Display competent report writing skills as well as good Microsoft Office software knowledge
Desirable
- Working knowledge of current video game platforms and related hardware
- Experience with developing PlayStation / Xbox platform games, and the relevant requirements
- Previous experience working on a AAA title in a development studio
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- Knowledge of the development process and the various disciplines involved
- Experience using Jira, TestRail and Perforce
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working in a multiplayer shooting game.
