Your Mission
The People team is the heartbeat of Improbable, responsible for retaining and developing our employees. Improbable is trying to change the world; it’s our job to ensure our people have the conditions and ability to get us there.
Located in the UK (ideally London, though remote applicants are welcome), this 9 month fixed term role will be responsible for business partnering with our Commercial leadership team. Improbable is going through an exciting period of commercial growth, which will bring people and process challenges to all parts of our business. Your mission will be to provide strategic HR leadership to the Commercial leadership team during this period of growth, anticipating and acting on people challenges that encompass organisational design, workforce planning, job design, manager development and much more. In addition, you’ll provide primary People Partner support for the Commercial organisation of around 40 people, meeting regularly with managers to optimise their teams, and acting as an advisor to employees when needed.
- Partner with our Chief Commercial Officer, VP Business Development and VP Product Marketing to build and execute on a People Plan that supports the development of our Commercial organisation, influencing and coordinating colleagues from across People Operations and other parts of the business to deliver on this plan.
- Build relationships with senior managers/leaders across Commercial, acting as a trusted advisor and coach to this group and integrating as a member of the Commercial management team.
- Act as the primary People Partner for the ~40 person Commercial organisation.
- Contribute to company wide initiatives that ensure Improbable is a great place to work. This may include working with the wider People team on onboarding, compensation, rewards, recognition, probation, D&I initiatives, performance and wellbeing.
- Generate, analyse and communicate insightful data to help us drive better decisions across the business for all things people.
- Participate in employee relations and conflict resolution where necessary. Take the time to understand opinions/concerns and apply logic, reason and intent to address them.
Areas For Impact
- Significant HR knowledge and experience, possibly within a technology focused organisation or fast growing environment, including experience business partnering directly with senior stakeholders who are accountable for or heavily invested in the success of People initiatives.
- Experience leading organisation design, change management and workforce planning, including the program management of re-organisations and associated communications, and the design of career paths and assessment methods.
- Experience in partnering with and/or developing a manager population.
- Comfortable delivering in an extremely fast moving, dynamic environment where things can change quickly and the right solution to a problem is often ambiguous.
- Comfortable acting as a coach and advisor to employees at all levels of the business on People related issues and will be confident in informally or formally resolving sensitive people challenges.
- Innate levels of emotional intelligence and a willingness to invest in relationship building. You will have the ability to put people at ease and build trust.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- A team player, who thrives on collaborating with other People Partners and the specialists within our People function.
- Curious, inquisitive and ready to question when it comes to people and business.
- Absolute, unbreakable discretion. Experience in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Analytical, with the ability to gather and interpret data, but not afraid to make decisions based on logic or gut.
