Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, the largest award-winning VR developer in the world. As our Amsterdam studio is in full production of its most ambitious project to date, a true multi-platform high-end VR action shooter based on a global franchise, and with plans to start the next project this year, we are looking to recruit a Senior Narrative Designer who can aid us in our mission. The ideal candidate possesses proven writing skills, games design knowledge and hands-on games engine skills to be able to implement the narrative content into the engine.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
- Develop the high-level story of the game in collaboration with IP holders, the game director, and writers.
- Create and maintain all story related documentation, including scripts for recording, narrative components of level design and concept briefings, character bios and world location definitions.
- Work with the content designers to write additional living world dialogue for enemies and NPC’s.
- Participate in actor performance capture recordings to ensure the narrative design considerations are present in the animation/audio recordings.
- Support planning activities of the production team and be the go-to team member for all game narrative questions of the game director and project leads.
- Implement narrative content (character animation and dialogue in the game engine) using the sequencer and blueprints and managing the story related engine content.
Your profile
- Several years of working experience in a design role on a successful narrative driven console action-adventure title.
- Proven writing ability, from high level story shaping to screenplay and dialogue. Both solo and in collaboration with external writers and within IP lore.
- Strong English communication and organizational skills tested by working across discipline in a team of 50+ people.
Bonus points for
- Hands on knowledge of implementing story content in the Unreal Engine – familiarity with managing animation and audio data and hooking it up using the sequencer and blueprints.
- Experienced in participating in the performance capture process and offering feedback to actors.
- Good understanding of the challenges and opportunities of writing for VR.
