The Overwatch Team is seeking an imaginative, resourceful, and technically-proficient Senior Narrative Designer to join our team. If you share a passion for developing interesting worlds, compelling characters, and enjoyable stories, then this position is perfect for you.
As part of the Narrative Design team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: story development; creating diverse characters and dialog for our new and current roster of Heroes; dialogue implementation and scripting; giving voice over direction to our talented voice actors; providing feedback about the IP, story, and gameplay; and mentoring other narrative team members and designers.
Responsibilities
- Write lines that quickly and concisely convey moment-to-moment gameplay in a Hero's unique voice.
- Design and implement the narrative and emotional beats of story missions.
- Implement and script lines and conversations via Blizzard’s proprietary tool.
- Guide VO studio sessions.
- Collaborate with other teams to build stories focused on our outstanding IP and Heroes, while championing player experience and gameplay.
- Maintain the vision of the Overwatch universe and contribute to its narrative development.
Requirements
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience as a Narrative Designer/Writer.
- At least one shipped AAA game title in a Mid-to-Senior Writer/Narrative role.
- Scripting experience with text or visual scripting languages, as well as technical proficiency in game editors (mainstream or proprietary).
- Prior experience in giving voice direction and/or working with voice actors.
- Experience in providing constructive feedback and mentoring.
Pluses
- Game knowledge and an understanding of the design principles behind games.
- Understanding and knowledge of the Overwatch universe.
- Experience in game design and/or level design.
- Experience writing branching and non-linear dialogue for games.
- Published writing work (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
