Playground Games is looking for a Senior Material Artist to join our talented Fable team.
ABOUT US:
We are a premier Xbox Game Studio, crafting genre-defining games that delight players with their accessibility, visual allure, and pure fun. Our diverse and passionate team is currently working on the exciting reboot of the much-adored Fable franchise.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Senior Material Artist, your role will be integral in collaborating with the Environment Art team to deliver high-quality materials and textures for assets, architecture, and biomes.
You will strive for excellence in creating consistent, top-notch environment materials, elevating the visual content of our game. Your ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders will be essential in this role.
Our ideal candidate is a proficient Material Artist with a passion for their craft, demonstrated skills in texturing, and a proven track record in the field.
This is a permanent role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa. We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio. Relocation assistance is available if required.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Working closely with Leads, Directors and multi-disciplinary stakeholders, you'll establish texture and material workflows.
- Create superior environment materials for props, architecture, geology, and terrain.
- Participate in the creation of benchmarks for various asset types, defining workflows and processes for obtaining optimal results. Develop a base material library for use in asset creation.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Experience in material art creation, demonstrated by an online portfolio. Expertise in shader networks and procedural texturing. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Zbrush, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and Maya.
- Strong knowledge of PBR workflows and an understanding of how materials behave in the real world.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, an ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, address work-related challenges proactively, and a drive for learning and professional growth.
- Experience working on console games or RPG games.
- Skills in photogrammetry and using scan data in your work.
