Senior Material Artist

Counterplay Games is looking for a Senior Material Artist responsible for building textures for Environments, Characters and Weapons for our next PC and Console AAA video game developed in Unreal Engine 5. They'll take inspiration directly from concept art and transform that into tiling and trim textures to be used for in game and in cinematic assets.
Responsibilities:
- Create a wide range of highly detailed organic and manmade tiling and trim textures to support the needs of multiple departments
- Build and maintain a Substance Painter Smart Material library.
- Work with and edit photo scanned textures
- Provide mentorship to other members of the team by documenting pipelines and processes as well as showcasing demo of techniques.
- Work directly with Tech Art team members to develop new tools and processes that will improve efficiency in our pipelines.
- Work with Team Leads and Directors to iterate as needed based of feedback
- Focused on how to balance performance needs with those of the visuals
Requirements:
- At least one shipped titles as a Senior Material Artist or Senior Environment Artist with focus on material and texture creation.
- Expert knowledge of Substance Designer and Substance Painter
- Expert understanding of PBR materials and workflows.
- Strong understanding of how texel density relates to surface detail size
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Maya, Blender or 3Ds Max
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine’s core features and tools
- Ability to translate ideas found in concept art to a wide range of different material types.
- Strong communication skills
Bonus:
- Ability to sculpt assets using Zbrush with a high level of detail
- Experience authoring shaders in Unreal
- Experience working with Photogrammetry
- Experience in World Building or Level Creation
