Senior Manager - Esports, Events Production

In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends and has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world and a main reason for the dramatic growth of esports. At the core is the Global Esports team, the group responsible for operating the major League of Legends competitive international tournaments, defining global policies for the sport, driving global narratives, and providing services to our 15 different regional leagues. The Senior Manager of Events Production manages the production of our international events within Global Esports.

You will fill the role of the Executive in Charge of Production for the League of Legends competitive events globally. You will use your expertise to execute the production of large-scale events for live and broadcast audiences. Reporting to the Head of Global Events, you will partner with the Executive Producer to accomplish the event’s creative vision. You will lead a team of line producers, production managers, event managers, production agencies and vendors to provide outstanding events to our fans, providing support to every aspect of the show production.

Responsibilities:

• Directly lead the global events production team to build our events, including set design, audio, video, lighting, broadcast production, on-site experience, services, logistics and all the aspects of the show.
• Develop a high functional production team, fostering a positive and healthy environment. Assess headcount needs and allocation, develop and performance manage individuals on the team.
• Partner with the global events initiative leadership to support event host-city selection and assess production and technical viability, based on the show's creative vision.
• Develop a budget forecast for all of our events using historical data and bottom-up estimation based on the scope, location, and complexity of the shows.
• Manage and control the production budget for all of the events, and actualize the budget for reporting purposes.
• Develop a process for venue sourcing and selection.
• Create and develop relationships with the industry, including production agencies, travel agencies, vendors, freelancers, and governmental institutions.
• When needed, become operationally involved in events at the Line Producer or Production Manager level-work to ensure delivery of events.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in production.
• Experience in leadership positions, guiding teams through the development of live events, shows, TV or film productions.
• Experience with large-scale events for 10,000+ attendees.
• Hands-on experience as a line producer or senior production manager, with a solid background in project management, operations, and the finance and legal aspects of production.
• Experience with events broadcast, in any of its multiple forms.

Desired Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in production.
• 3+ years of experience as a people manager.
• Outstanding vendor management and relationship building capabilities.
