Senior Technical Artist - Lighting

Cloud Chamber is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to work collaboratively with a team of artists and engineers to develop and support our lighting team. You will use your deep skills to develop best-practices and workflow automation, and support the production of consistently stylized visuals within a physically based render environment that will make the world of BioShock shine.
Job Details:
- Work with the lighting team to create lighting standards, best-practices, and workflows within the Unreal engine that scale to production.
- Contribute to a positive, proactive, and agile work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
- Evaluate performance and help optimize lighting across the entire game.
- Develop Blueprints or scripts to help link gameplay and lighting with user-friendly workflows.
- Work with the lighting team to automate their workflows and stay within performance guidelines.
- Work with the Cinematic, VFX, and Material teams to optimize performance and visual fidelity in real-time scenes.
- Implement dynamic lighting and atmospheric systems to meet visual and gameplay needs.
- Communicate with a geographically-distributed team using real-time tools as well as through multimedia documentation.
- Research and share new techniques and technologies related to PBR lighting and shading with the goal of continuous development and improvement.
- Receive and apply constructive feedback as part of our iterative process effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Work closely with other groups within the studio to achieve cohesive and visually stunning results.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in 3D AAA games as a technical artist.
- Experience as a Senior Technical Artist on one AAA title.
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines and modern art pipelines.
- Must be comfortable taking on responsibility for the development of complex lighting solutions and workflows.
- Working knowledge of Lumen and Blueprint.
- Experience developing high quality lighting under runtime constraints.
- Deep understanding of lighting, color-spaces, HDR, color-theory and PBR.
- Skilled with industry standard game-dev tools (Perforce, Visual Studio, JIRA, etc.).
- Experience with console development is a plus.
- Experience working with a team of artists towards a common goal.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process.
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize issues while developing a production pipeline.
- Ability to discuss, support, and advocate for your opinions while being receptive to differing viewpoints.
- Highly detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to embrace change for a fast-growing organization.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, set priorities, and creatively solve challenging problems.

This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. Below are the expected salary and wage ranges for applicants based in locations where the pay transparency law is in effect:
Colorado: $70,000 and $145,000 per year
California: $90,000 and $170,000 per year
New York State (inclusive of New York City): $90,000 and $170,000 per year
Washington: $70,000 and $145,000 per year
Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees will also receive 14 paid holidays per calendar year, are eligible to earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation leave per year (subject to proration based on start date during the calendar year) and will receive 10 sick days per calendar year. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, 4 including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
