SENIOR LIGHTING/SURFACING ARTIST - CONTRACT

What We Need:
Visual Concepts Entertainment (2K Sports), the developers of critically acclaimed NBA2K video game franchise is seeking an experienced & self-motivated Senior Lightning/Surfacing Artist to join our talented NBA Team in Novato, California.
What You Will Do:
- Lighting for in game features, including cinematics and gameplay, arenas, indoor and outdoor environments
- Collaborate and communicate closely between Art Directors and Environment Leads, lighting and shading look development teams, and Production management
- Create textures and materials using a combination off the shelf tools (Substance, Photoshop) plus in-house proprietary pipeline tools for non-character assets in game
- Look development of non-character assets surface materials, their application and how they respond to environment lighting
- Maintain continuity of look and quality throughout in-game feature
- Manage art assets through source control, run in-game testing of your art prior to build submission
- Manage your daily tasks with Production, submit media (movies, screengrabs, etc) for creative feedback and notes
- Support resource budgets for art data by optimizing shading and texturing techniques used in game
- Be adaptive, cooperative, engaged and available in a fast paced, fluid production cycle
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- 5+ years of experience on commercial game projects or in a related field
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
You Are Proficient With:
- Substance Painter/Designer
- Adobe Photoshop
- Autodesk Maya
- Autodesk Shotgun
- Shading and material properties and concepts
- Texturing techniques for optimization (e.g. tiling textures)
- UV layout and creation
- Source control (e.g. Perfroce, Git, CVS, etc.) for file management
