Senior Lighting Artist

Working closely with our colleagues at Bad Robot Productions, our projects unite our extensive network of games, TV, and film industry talent to create original IPs, expansive worlds and tell new stories across all media platforms which are as fun to watch as they are to play.
Bad Robot Games is looking for a Senior Lighting Artist who is passionate about using lighting to enhance worlds and heighten the emotional journeys of our players. The ideal candidate will have strong experience creating real-time game lighting using next-gen workflows in Unreal 5.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set the bar for lighting by keeping up to date with the latest tools, technologies, and techniques to help shape our pipelines.
- Lights game levels and cinematic sequences to AAA quality.
- Sets up scene lights to match color keys and concept art, with a strong understanding of lighting aesthetics and mood.
- Optimizes lighting for performance.
- Works with the Art Director and Creative Director to help drive the lighting style of the project.
- Cross-discipline collaboration with the development team to problem solve and generate new ideas.
- Works closely with artists to ensure assets are properly set up for lighting.
- Works closely with designers to ensure that the correct areas are emphasized for gameplay with a clear player path.
- Create and maintain workflows and technical requirements in order to balance quality with efficiency while working under deadlines.
- Participate in playtests and provide “hands-on” feedback as the project progresses.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of lighting experience in game development and a portfolio showcasing their skill set.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside of the established solutions.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5, leveraging Lumen.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work in a remote team environment.
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently.

- Experience in a secondary area such as texturing, modeling, set dressing, vfx etc.
- Experience working on a live service game.
- A passion for multiplayer online gaming and a rich history of game playing across a wide variety of game genres.
Annual Salary Range: $115,000 - $120,000
Our ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.
