Senior/Lead Animator - Remote

We’re “building in the open” with input from our community and release different parts of our products as we build them. We’re in pre-production on our first early access release in Q4 of 2023.
As the Senior/Lead animator you’ll be joining a small and slowly growing Unreal Engine 5 team. You’ll help drive the look and feel of the animation of dozens of characters and creatures. We’re using Maya and UE5.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating high quality keyframe animation for dozens of characters and creatures
- Areas of animation include gameplay in addition to animation focused mechanics
- Collaborate with a small number of animators, designers, programmers and artists
- 70% animation, 30% leadership
- Play a key role in and lead creative discussions to enhance the story telling within the title
- Work closely with the design and engineering to ensure that animations are optimized for performance and meet the technical requirements of the game engine
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Fine Arts, or related field
- 5+ years animation experience in the games or film industry
- A Senior animation credit on at least one shipped game project
- Proficiency with common animation principles & processes
- Experience applying film language, cinematography, and game mechanics to animation
- Strong understanding of Unreal 5 in game development
Bonus points:
- Technical animation skills, such as rigging, scripting and animation blueprints (or similar technology)
