The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Game Programmer with Unreal Engine experience to join our team on a 12-month contract, with the potential for transitioning into a permanent role.
This position is crucial to our development efforts and offers the opportunity to significantly influence the technical direction of our projects.
As a Senior Game Programmer, you will work closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to implement and optimize gameplay features.
You will be responsible for developing high-quality, performant code and contributing to the overall architecture and technical strategy of our games.

Job type
12 month full-time contract role with flexible hours, remote only.
What you would be doing
- Design, develop, and maintain essential game systems using Unreal Engine 4/5.
- Implement robust, high-quality code in C++ to meet design specifications.
- Optimize game features for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Mentor intermediate engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing.
What you must have
- 5+ years of experience in video-games as a programmer
- Exceptional knowledge of C++ programming
- Experience working with Unreal Engine
- At least one commercially released video-game under your belt
- A desire to learn and further improve your skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Availability between 11 am and 3 pm on weekdays (New Zealand time)
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written
What is advantageous to have
- Multiplayer networking experience
- Experience with Unreal Engine’s Gameplay Ability System.
- A commercially released game built with the Unreal Engine
- Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience making AAA games.
