Job Description
Key Requirements:
- Ability to work in a small team with hands-on involvement in development of the game.
- Excellent organizational, documentation and communication skills.
- Data-driven design prowess to influence games’ acquisition, monetisation and retention.
- Experience of the entire product life cycle from concepting and prototypes all the way to driving results across frequent post launch updates
- Ability to work autonomously, as needed, and to prototype when required.
- Experience developing in a fast-paced, highly iterative and agile professional environment.
- Manage in-game economies and add to existing games’ systems without chaos ensuing.
- Consistent leadership qualities, with ability to taste make, guide and inspire others.
- Identify trends and evaluate the suitability to our current games.
- Desire to work on arcade-style mobile games and a soft spot for aquatic creatures.
Responsibilities or What will you do?
- Author the development and communication of game designs across teams. Be comfortable working cross-functionally and being an advocate for design outcomes.
- Use a mixture of design knowledge and practical experiences to own the creation and execution of game features that are in scope and at quality.
- Benchmark and distil competitor’s game into actionable references for internal inspiration, analysis, and reference. Use market knowledge as a tool to create compelling designs.
- Work with Business Intelligence and Product Management to evolve existing designs to increase KPIs (eg. Retention goals, Monetization conversion rate, or Ad views). Marry a love of game design to the practical requirements of operating free to play games as a business.
- Own a game economy and its balancing, if required. More likely work with a team to ensure the fair, consistent, and attractive operation of our games.
- The role will be responsible for creating content which delights players as viewed through internal reports, community feedback (Reddit, Facebook, etc.) and VIP players.
- Balance the need for quality against constraints of time, team, and ROI on game features.
- Run play tests and brainstorming within the company to ensure quality, playability and fun.
- Mentor junior design team members while maintaining ample humour and optimism.
Experience:
- 5+ years in a game design role with at least 3 years spent designing Free to Play games.
- Successful release of a notable mobile game and piloting of subsequent Live Operations plans.
- Expert knowledge of Unity. Skilled in-engine to lead prototyping, collaboration with coders, and unify design team intention and feature creation
