About Sumo Digital, Leamington

Sumo Leamington was established in March 2019, and is managed and operated by a team of industry veterans with deep experience of service-based games. Our vision statement is quite simply 'we make you look forward to tomorrow'; a vision to make games which players will keep coming back to - day after day, year after year.

We also believe that by putting people and purpose first, our studio culture is one that drives performance, boasts enthusiasm, and is something that the team are proud to say they are part of.

Day in the life of a Senior Game Designer:

As a Senior Game Designer, you will play a pivotal role in preserving and executing the creative essence of our game, Stampede: Racing Royale. From inception to implementation, you will conceptualise, document and champion features, ensuring alignment with the game’s overarching vision and take charge of key project components such as game mode, power-ups, player abilities and gameplay mechanics. You will engage closely with Producers, Programmers, Artists and UI/UX experts to deliver your features and refine, balance and troubleshoot your creations, meticulously adjusting elements like scoring systems to enhance gameplay.

Please note, this role can be done remotely within the UK.
What you need to do this job:

• Experience of at least one full development cycle that resulted in a shipped game on PC/Console/Mobile.

• Experience of owning at least one major game feature and seeing it through from concept to completion.

• Experience of working with a major commercial game engine, preferably Unity.

• Experience of working as part of a mid-size or larger development team with source control software, preferably Git.

• Experience of working on a live service game would be beneficial.

The Interview Process:

At Sumo Digital, we take a holistic and engaging interview process that allows us to get to know you, your skills and your potential. For our Senior Game Designer role, we have a 3 stage interview process:

1st Stage: 1-hour with our Lead Designer and Design Director. Here, we will talk with you about your experience, our expectations in the role and ask some competency based questions. There will, of course, also be opportunities for you to ask questions!
2nd Stage: Our second stage will be 1-hour interview with a couple of members of the studio leadership team - our Studio Director and Development Director.
3rd Stage: The final interview will be more of an informal chat with some other members of the studio so you will have a chance to ask questions and find out more about what it's like to work for Sumo Leamington!
