Senior Game Designer - New Games

Our Gaming team is made up hybrid-casual, casual and mid-core experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.
Our Core games team is divided into Publishing, Partnership and Studios teams. With over seven billion downloads worldwide and a portfolio of more than 10 resilient hybrid games generating more than $20m per year, we are the largest and most successful hybrid publisher in the world.
In this role, you will be joining one of Voodoo’s internal studios, London-based, focused on delivering hit Hybrid Puzzle games. The studio prides itself on fostering a strong environment of innovation and idea sharing, whilst promoting a fun, friendly and open culture.
This position is London based, but we operate on a hybrid (~50% remote vs. office) basis.
Role
As a Senior Game Designer your missions will be divided in 4 parts:
1° Ideation -> Researching, developing and proposing new game ideas
- Identifying and documenting core mobile games concepts, trends and mechanics that can be built into something bigger
- Identify games with strong "twist" potential across the market and across Voodoo's internal live prototypes
- Help maintain a suitable pipeline of strong and novel game ideas
- Develop new game puzzle concepts that strike the right balance of fun, depth, innovation and monetization potential
2° Game Development Management
- Help manage games through their lifecycle, providing feedback on all aspects such as Art, VFX, mechanics, game feel, UI, UX, SFX, etc.
- Propose and develop new features and mechanic ideas to build upon the emerging gameplay
3° Level design
- Design levels for a range of gameplays, taking on responsibility for level design, feature phasing, onboardings and other required elements
- Design level in both database format and within Unity based on requirements
- Apply pragmatism to level design, apply principals of rapid prototyping whilst ensuring a dynamic gameplay experience for users
4° Game Marketing and Data Analysis
- Apply understanding of market and relevant benchmarks to help maximise the marketability of each game
- Analyzing tested game statistics (retention, playtime, churn, level balancing etc.)
- Improving level design and proposing iteration approaches based on analysis
- Support with the development, recording and editing of gameplay footage to be used in marketing videos
Profile
- Strong Experience with game ideation
- Strong experience with level design (ideally specifically within a variety of puzzle-type games)
- Good intuition for games and hence can provide feedback/suggestions on core elements of games
- Good familiarity with Unity for level creation and minor customization for marketing video recording
Advantageous experience:
- Some experience with spreadsheet level generation (e.g. excel/google sheets)
- Some experience with basic data analysis
- Some experience with producing (recording and editing) gameplay marketing videos
