Survios is currently searching for a talented Senior Environment Level Artist to help visualize the future of immersive gaming.
The Senior Environment Level Artist will contribute to the artistic vision and development of AAA level content. You will work as a key member of the art team, collaborating closely with the Lead Environment Artist in creating high quality, modular and detailed environment models. The ideal candidate should be constantly envisioning the experience of the end user and be actively proposing and developing features that enhance that experience.
Responsibilities:
- Create environments that inspire and feel realistic to players.
- Generate high quality models and textures from concepts and photos.
- Create compelling art driven stories using pre-existing modular kit pieces and unique hero props.
- Work closely with level designers to meet both gameplay and art direction needs.
- Provide internal and external artists with artistic and technical guidance.
- Work closely with technical art to develop new or improve upon current techniques in order to enhance visual quality.
- Assist the Lead Artist in regards to finding solutions to more complex artistic and technical issues that arise.
- Interpret and push concept designs to the next level.
- Understand the game design documents in regards to the environments, objectives, atmospheres, story and style and use them to create various artistic elements.
- Serve as a mentor to more junior environment artists on the team.
- Spread knowledge of new software, content creation and workflow methods with team members.
Requirements:
- Experience with art level layout out and optimization.
- Strong artistic sense of scene composition.
- Accomplished environment artist with 4+ years of experience.
- Experience with the production of optimized, game-ready 3D models using Maya, 3DSMax, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows.
- Shipped 1+ games with Unreal or equivalent game engine.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary art team to help bring environments to life within the vision of the game design.
- Experience problem-solving for art while working closely with technical artists, programmers and lead artists.
- Strong ability to adapt to new tools, processes, and unexpected challenges.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Highly motivated and proactive, consistent productivity with minimal supervision.
Pluses:
- Unreal Engine 5 experience.
- In game Dynamic and baked lighting experience.
- Experience in scoping new environment art features and level planning.
- Interest or Experience in VR.
