Your Mission

Activision Publishing is looking for an experienced and motivated lawyer to join our in-house legal team as a close, trusted business partner, providing advice on a variety of legal issues.

• Assess and advise on legal issues and risks for Activision Publishing’s talent work, including voice-over, motion and data capture projects; point of escalation for Activision Publishing’s talent team

• SAG-AFTRA point of contact for Activision Publishing games; coordinate with other Activision Blizzard stakeholders

• Negotiate a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including first party platform, technology and sales agreements

• Respond promptly to a wide range of requests from across the business and legal teams

• Collaborate with international and cross-functional legal colleagues to provide global guidance on diverse legal issues

Player Profile

• Juris Doctorate and admission to California State Bar in good standing or admission to another State Bar and willingness and qualifications to be “Registered In-House Counsel”
• 7+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer at a reputable firm and/or in-house department
• Extensive experience and knowledge in drafting, negotiating and interpreting complex commercial, talent and guild/union agreements
• Strategic and creative thinking, exercising balanced and practical business judgment
• Outstanding written and oral communications, with the ability to effectively
• Attention to detail
• Common sense, good judgment and desire to work hard in a fast-paced environment
• Team player, leadership qualities, and ability to independently handle multiple, diverse projects simultaneously and under deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and explain legal risks and creative solutions
• Capacity to understand Activision Publishing’s business and strategy and apply it to proactively managing legal risks
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic industry and where there is ambiguity and flex in the business and legal environment
• Strong ethics, collaboration and influencing skills
• communicate with colleagues across the business

Preferred:

• Top law firm experience in an entertainment practice
• Experience in a games, entertainment or media company
• Experience with SAG-AFTRA matters a big plus
• A passion for video games
