Summary
The role of Senior Director IT PMO is critical in the company’s corporate information technology (IT) function and requires experience and expertise in managing people, processes, and technology related to programs, projects, and IT strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess expert skills in program and project management and be readily equipped to provide hands-on leadership over numerous global and complex work efforts. Additionally, the candidate must have significant experience establishing governance principles, management frameworks, and structured project methodologies to increase consistency and successful project implementation across a matrix organization. Finally, the Director IT PMO must have experience leading an organizational transition to becoming more agile.What you'll do
Project/People Leadership
- Demonstrate proficiency in leading programs, projects, and workstreams following industry best practices.
- Strategically identify and prioritize project, program, and portfolio objectives, effectively addressing challenges while communicating associated risks and opportunities.
- Monitor projects, programs, and portfolios to ensure compliance with project policies and standards and keep to schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Drive operational excellence to improve performance, maximize value, reduce waste, and increase efficiencies.
- Advocate for an agile mindset, proficiently implementing change management processes and fostering innovation.
- Exhibit expertise in various project methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scaled Agile, Waterfall), tailoring approaches to project requirements.
- Deliver high-impact executive-level presentations on project status and PMO performance to diverse stakeholders.
- Oversee multi-million-dollar IT Project Budget.
- Lead, mentor, and empower a diverse team of Program Managers and Project Managers, ensuring their collective success across distributed work environments.
Planning and Governance Management
- Establish a PMO center of excellence aligned with Project Management standards, quality benchmarks, and corporate strategy.
- Develop and maintain lean and efficient IT governance models, tools, and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive effective project and portfolio management including regular operations reviews and steering committees.
- Generate insightful reporting and dashboards for Business and IT stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
Strategic Partnering and Relationship Management
- Collaborate closely with various IT divisions as well as Aristocrat Sales, Marketing, Services, Global Supply Chain, Compliance, Finance, and Product Groups to ensure clear project objectives, collaborative delivery, and shared accountability.
- Partner with business leadership to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine the most appropriate delivery model for each work effort.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in computer science, project management, engineering, or related project management undergraduate course of study; an advanced degree is preferred.
- PMP, CSM, and SAFE certifications are preferred.
- Minimum of twenty (20) years of direct (hands-on) project and program management experience.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years running an IT PMO organization and managing Project Managers.
- Experience monitoring and evaluating projects, programs, and portfolios.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and management of high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and motivating team members.
- Working knowledge of modern programs and portfolio management and tools (e.g. Smartsheet; ADO, etc.)
- Experience in multiple project methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, SAFe Agile, and Hybrid approaches.
- Expert knowledge of project governance and change management techniques and processes.
- Extensive experience creating, managing, tracking, and reporting on a multi-million-dollar budget.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to deal with ambiguity, and remain effective and positive under pressure.
- Experience with vendor management.
