Senior Designer - Vehicle Handling (Multiplayer Action)

Would you enjoy the freedom to create AAA games working from anywhere in the UK, including our Liverpool studio?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Designer, specialising in handling, join our team in the development of a ‘AAA’ multiplayer action title.
You will work closely with Lead and Principal Designers, Engineers, Level Designers, the Game Director and multiple teams to develop world-class handling models that are accessible and empowering. You’ll bring to bear a knowledge of both arcade and simulation models, understanding every aspect of what makes the video game incarnation of a wide range of vehicles so much fun.
This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Technical Designer with experience creating racing / driving games and the knowledge, ambition, and impeccable standards to deliver their career-best work. You will help shape an exciting blockbuster title in active development and help build a team to deliver on a pillar game feature.
You and your colleagues will work closely to deliver, iterate, evolve, and polish our core gameplay to the highest quality possible; ensuring the game is exciting, consistent and aligned with the audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prototype, implement, iterate, and polish the multiplayer vehicle handling.
- Demonstrate how handling can improve gameplay.
- World-class vehicle dynamics understanding and experience.
- Respond to feedback to help meet the creative vision of the game.
- Provide constructive input to and feedback on potential new features during the initial design, prototyping, iteration, and polish stages.
- Bring your own experience of best working practices to the team.
- Organize teams through planning, meetings, and documentation in collaboration with Development Managers.
- Manage and mentor team members.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of, and experience of video game vehicle handling.
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally with experience of working with and a passion for game-play mechanics concerning third-person action, shooting and/or vehicle-based gameplay.
- Thorough understanding of contemporary video games and popular culture.
Additional or Desired Skills:
- An intuition for, and interest in, multiplayer action games.
- Approachable, with a proactive attitude towards cross discipline communication.
- A willingness and desire to learn, adapt and work outside of your comfort zone.
- Experienced with Console development is a plus.
- An understanding of the difference between server and client authoritative physics.
