What you’ll do
Epic is looking for a talented Concept Artist to help us continue to shape the future of Fortnite. As a Concept Artist you will work with the character concept art team to create unique and compelling characters that exude personality and style. You will use your artistic expertise in color, composition, shape, and visual design to help push our iconic style. Your craft expertise in character design will provide the inspiration which will continue to push the boundaries of what Fornite means to our players.
You will work with the Leads and Art Directors to ideate and develop character outfits that Fortnite players love.
In this role, you will
- Explore ideas that merge current aesthetics with a fantastical battle ready appeal
- Develop designs that are relatable and aspirational to teens and young adults today
- Work closely with a Lead or Art Director, who are here to help push you to make your best work
What we're looking for
A Concept Artist who can develop coherent, relatable, and aspirational characters for Fortnite Battle Royale. The ideal candidate has these qualities:
- Knows what is relevant and cool with teens and young adults today, and applies it in their designs
- Ability to put a fantastical spin on characters that is aspirational to teens and young adults today
- Ability to create character designs in a variety of body shapes, race, and aesthetics
- Deep understanding of fundamental art principles (color, composition, value/ lighting, form).
- Ability to render at multiple levels of fidelity starting with coarse thumbnails, ending with a polished, stylized character concept art
- Demonstrates drawing and painting abilities that translate well into 3D models (detailed articulation from multiple angles)
- User-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do
