Senior Concept Artist - Characters

Cloud Chamber is looking for an imaginative and collaborative Senior Concept Artist to work closely with our Character Art Team to create compelling, stylized visual content. With creative guidance from the Art Director, you will provide the visual target for the team that enables them to bring BioShock characters to life. You are a talented artist with traditional drawing and painting skills who can work effortlessly within a digital world. To be successful in this role you should have a desire to collaborate, iterate, share your ideas, inspire your fellow artists, and tackle challenging assignments head on.

Job Details:

• Create stylized, diverse, 2D character concept art.
• Create compelling character designs to inspire the team and carry the story across.
• Produce detailed & accurate orthographic drawings for the Character Modelers.
• Create detailed concepts & storyboards to bring player powers to the next level.
• Work with Design & Combat teams to storyboard AI moves & attack patterns.
• Provide feedback and paintovers for the Character Modelers.
• Create marketing art and assets as needed.
• Maintain the values of Cloud Chamber.
• Stay up to date with technology and industry trends to continually drive innovation.
• Foster a positive, proactive, and agile work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

• Degree in Fine Art and/or Digital Art, or related work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in games.
• Previous experience creating 2D character concept art for AAA games, proficiency in 3D character concept design is a plus.
• Ability to cohesively collaborate within team environments.
• Ability to quickly iterate on ideas visually.
• Ability to take direction well and iterate on given feedback.
• Self-motivated toward solving creative problems.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently under reasonable deadlines.
• Willing to take initiative to communicate, coordinate, and negotiate between different disciplines with kindness and respect.
• Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
• Work ethic focused on dynamism and collaboration.
• Analytical and strategic thinker with communication skills to express clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences.
