Senior Backend Developer - Contractor

As a Software Engineer contracting for the LBX (Location Based Experiences) team of our Experience organization, you will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge technologies, to design and develop engaging user experiences for Magic Leap’s Platforms. You will be working on one of the first projects leveraging Magicverse tech and methodology to bring truly a first of its kind location based experience (LBX). Our work will be shown internationally and will bring exposure at one of the most high profile events of 2020.
The ideal candidate will have full stack experience developing modern web applications using a variety of tool sets, remarkable problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for web architecture and mobile devices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a Node.js backend and API for managing users and sharing media over social video and photo platforms
- Provide simple non user-facing frontend for staff administration
- Implement systems from technical designs with clean, well-commented, and well- tested code.
- Performance and optimization tuning of client and server-side web applications.
- Work closely with UX designers, game developers, project managers and back-end engineers.
Qualifications :
- At least 3 years of experience developing high-performance web applications.
- Strong programming skills in Javascript, Node.js, and modern web backends.
- Experience developing production-quality web applications that consume REST services.
- Experience using Git and/or Perforce
- Strong understanding of web browser capabilities.
- Experience working with Social platform APIs such as Youtube, Twitter, etc
- Knowledge of Isomorphic/Universal JavaScript, and/or Progressive Web Applications.
- Ability to multi-task and manage tasks with varying priorities.
- Collaborative team player that can think outside the box.
- A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, SMTP, HTTP) is a must.
- Visual design experience a plus
Education:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
