A Senior Back-End Software Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of entire gameplay features. This includes development of server-side services, database structures, scripts, and APIs for a AAA PC/console game. The engineer will assist in the translation from game design to technical design, task estimation and implementation of tasks. This role will be focused on developing and maintaining the server-side services and databases of a AAA title using Python, SQL, and ORM frameworks. This will also include basic server development and shell scripting such as investigating logs and working with VMs and remote machines.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A passion for developing next gen games!
- 5+ years previous experience in online-based development implementing back-end applications
- Experience with procedural and object-oriented programming styles
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, and database administration
- Experience with C++ or C style programming language
- Experience programming web APIs and web applications
- Experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS
- Experience with Templating Engines
- Experience with JavaScript libraries such as Jinja, JQuery, Bootstrap, DataTables preferred
- Experience with Python language and web frameworks (such as Flask) preferred
- Experience with ORM frameworks and tools preferred
- Experience with MySQL/MariaDB databases preferred
- Experience with web servers and middleware such as Apache, Nginx, uWSGI preferred
- Experience with some flavor of *nix (unix, linux, centOS) preferred
- Experience with basic server administration and shell scripting preferred
- Experience with game engines (custom game engines preferred)
- Experience with multi-threaded programming
- Experience with network (multiplayer) programming
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- High interest in and motivation to learn new technologies, languages, engines, algorithms or platform technologies
- Ability to offer technical expertise, solution architecture guidance and limited mentoring (answering questions, offering advice, guidance) to more junior developers on same or related projects.
- Ability to communicate well and work across departments in a professional manner
