Fixed Hybrid Role - Chicago Area Candidates Only #LI-Hybrid
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to be part of our Finance and Accounting team with excellent analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles to efficiently analyze and create financial reports and forecasts. Working under the direction of the VP of Finance, you will prepare and record journal entries, prepare month-end reconciliations and analysis, plus assist with data validation to create actionable financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Role and Responsibilities
- Ensure that balance sheet and general ledger accounts are accurately maintained and reconciled
- Assist in producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements in GAAP and IFRS
- Support the month-end close process - prepare work papers, journal entries, and draft financial statements for review by the VP of Finance
- Responsible for the timely and accurate recognition of revenue in compliance with ASC 606
- Establish and maintain cost accounting model to ensure the accurate calculation of unit cost for services related to a specific job or project
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable
- Report on costs, revenue, productivity, margins, and expenditures and offer insight and recommendations
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
- Maintain and reconcile fixed assets schedules
- Prepare federal, state, local, and special tax returns as needed
- Review expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company guidelines
- Perform other accounting duties and supervise junior staff as required or assigned
- Prepare data for submission of 1099 annual forms
- Assist with annual audit preparations
- Prepare weekly cash flow projections
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- 4+ years of professional, full-time accounting experience
- Senior Accountant experience, including leading or managing other staff
- Deep understanding of GAAP accounting, financial analysis standards, and best practices
- Experience with Lease Accounting (ASC 842)
- Experience with Revenue Recognition (ASC606)
- Deep expertise in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
- Experience with cost accounting preferred
- Excellent financial analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and highly detailed-oriented
- Ability to train and manage staff
- Experience with data validation and management
- Innovative mindset with a "roll up the sleeves" attitude that can work independently
- Open to once or twice a week onsite in our Chicago Loop office near public transportation

- IFRS experience - plus
- Bill.com or Expensify experience - plus
- Planful experience - plus
Salary Range
- The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
