Summary
The Chief Privacy Officer – Global & Assistant General Counsel’s primary responsibility is to lead the development and implementation of Aristocrat’s global data privacy compliance program in a highly matrixed environment. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Responsibilities include data privacy matters for Aristocrat’s digital and land-based businesses.What you'll do
- Serve in a leadership role for all of the Company’s privacy and data security activities.
- Lead a network of Privacy Officers at the Company’s individual business units where each individual has additional responsibilities beyond privacy.
- Develop a holistic, privacy plan across the Company, leveraging executive data privacy vision and assessments.
- Identify processes for new business and technology initiatives where privacy by design hooks can be embedded. Document a process for privacy by design, include guidelines and checklists for the business to reference. Establish standard processes and procedures for completing privacy impact statements based on risk thresholds determined through triage surveys.
- Review, revise, and maintain data retention schedules and supporting processes and procedures. Develop, implement and maintain appropriate data privacy compliance policies and templates in coordination with Company management and legal counsel to enhance Company’s ability to comply with existing and upcoming privacy laws and regulations.
- Lead the effort to identify, implement and manage appropriate systems to support the data privacy compliance program and data retention policies.
- Assist with the enhancement of the global third-party risk management program.
- Assist with data privacy incident response plans, playbooks, and regulatory response kits that document privacy program components.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Aristocrat’s corporate functions and operating companies in the area of data privacy compliance.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable, and evolving, U.S. federal, state, and international (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) privacy laws and regulations, and self -regulatory standards. Monitor and analyze impact of federal, state, and international privacy law initiatives.
- Develop and implement appropriate training and auditing processes.
- Conduct incident response simulation exercises.
- Update and maintain record of processing activities.
- Advise on industry, legal, and regulatory developments affecting data security, including identifying emerging trends and potential impacts.
- Monitor advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure Company adaptation and compliance.
- Work closely with internal business partners to understand their perspectives, processes, applications, projects and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Identify appropriate outside counsel and managing the same.
- Support M&A due diligence processes with respect to data privacy matters as appropriate.
What we're looking for
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- JD from accredited law school.
- At least 10 years of legal experience.
- At least 5 years focused on Privacy issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior direct experience with international and local privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR.
- Ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated leadership on data governance and data privacy issues and a proven record of accomplishment applying this expertise to enterprise -wide programs and initiatives.
- Capacity to represent legal perspectives in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment with respect to matters of significant complexity.
- Capable of leading and operating successfully in a global environment and with rapidly evolving regulations.
