Our research and insights team helps us understand them, soliciting and synthesizing inputs from direct research, user forums, market research, data science, and other touchpoints to inform product and brand development. Research helps us understand the needs, habits and mental models of our (current and future) users so we can build successful product and business strategies.
As Research Lead, you will work with the VP of Design, Head of Research, and cross-functional partners to scope and execute impactful research programs. You will use your experience with mixed methods research to translate business and design questions into key research findings that drive our understanding of our users (developers or players) and ultimately shape our product strategy and end user experience of our products. You have experience managing research projects and people at scale, and are looking to use that experience to architect and grow a program from the ground up within a unique and vibrant ecosystem that already supports 200+ million monthly active users and thousands of successful game developers. You’re a curious and adaptable leader who thrives in ambiguity and is looking to drive innovation within a unique and vibrant ecosystem that already supports 200+ million monthly active users and thousands of successful game developers.
You will:
- Staff and lead execution on the identified research programs and roadmap by building a team, consulting with other Roblox teams, and overseeing outside agencies.
- Synthesize and prioritize research questions within the organization, working with design leadership and cross-functional product groups.
- Lead and manage the execution of research programs and roadmap by building a team, consulting with other Roblox teams, and overseeing outside agencies.
- Assess and connect our current research capabilities, working with our developer relations, market research, and other teams and efforts.
- Drive programs and execution of studies for foundational research, competitive analysis, usability and design research, and other prioritized areas.
- Partner closely with data science to better understand user behavior and motivations.
You have:
- Experience executing, leading, or collaborating with multiple research methodologies and approaches including user research, market research, branding, including mixed methods qualitative and quantitative.
- Experience leading other researchers (and supporting their career growth if applying as a manager).
- Experience managing teams, crafting growth opportunities and ladders for researchers, and supporting the growth of managers.
- A commitment to inclusion and an empathetic approach to leading people and to understanding user needs.
- Experience engaging with undefined and emerging product areas, conducting research for innovative products that define new markets and product innovations.
- Deep interest and experience in either:
- Gaming/entertainment platform experiences and use cases.
- Developer workflows, collaboration, tools and communities for the creation of interactive content and environments.
