QA Specialist

At Mainframe, we are building Pax Dei: a social sandbox MMO, a living world where myths are real, ghosts exist, and magic is unquestioned. A world that players worldwide will call their home and where they will craft their stories for years to come.

Your mission:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be an essential part of the game development team. As a QA Specialist would be to work alongside our team of experienced developers to test the latest features and updates to ensure we are delivering fun and balanced experiences to our players.

Your responsibilities:

We are looking for someone to join one of our feature teams and carry out specific and exploratory testing around the new changes, features and fixes that the team is currently working on. You will be an integral part of the team working closely with designers and engineers from the beginning of the development cycle to highlight where testing might be required, made easier and planned out for later on. You will work with your team to stay on top of the bugs that are being reported on new and existing features and help to prioritize them for fixing and deploying to our playerbase.

Some success indicators for your role:

• You are the driving force for quality within your team.
• You are actively providing feedback about balance and the overall feel of the game and features through design and development.
• You write and maintain the necessary test documentation for the features your team is developing.
• You own your team's bugs and are able to advise on the severity of issues based on an understanding of the system/product under test.
• You are actively looking for improvements in the development process and areas that can be automated or improved through tooling.

You will join in on exciting times as our MMO starts to breathe life! During Pax Dei Early Access - planned for Spring 2024 - we are also learning from our players and developing new features. Working on a live game implies that you won't have to keep everything you are working on secret and, most importantly, that you’ll have data and feedback about the features you work on shortly after their implementation.

We are a small team working on a challenging project, and, for us, every team member counts; as such, we value transparency in our communication and decision-making processes.

Location and work:

You will join our team and your role is preferably based in Finland, or in Iceland. We are open to discussing remote work but we prefer to stay in the time zones between Helsinki and Reykjavik.

As our teams are spread over several locations, we have weekly online team meetings for everyone to share their progress and learnings. We also encourage teams to meet up physically regularly to strengthen team spirit.
