About the Role
As Quality Assurance Manager you'll oversee the quality testing of our games and the QA department. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing high-level direction, supporting a team of testers, and getting their hands dirty with day-to-day work when required. This person would play a significant role in getting high-quality games to the player by working collaboratively with the development teams.
Responsibilities
- Help create and drive the QA vision of the company.
- Own and drive the testing process and any tools involved (Jira, confluence, TestRail etc).
- Propose solutions to improve the testing of games in the studio.
- Collaborate with all departments on the team to ensure their work can be tested efficiently.
- Help with recruitment, onboarding, development and professional training of the QA team.
- Maintain regular internal communications and encourage a positive and ambitious team atmosphere.
- Demonstrate good leadership, enthusiasm and sense of commitment.
- Build feature test plans in partnership with development and QA subject matter experts.
- Help oversee the development and execution of test cases.
- Manage the test team's day-to-day activities and quality of work.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional video game QA experience.
- A strong and efficient communicator with excellent management skills.
- Experience testing AAA titles on multiple platforms.
- Experience leading an internal QA team or a publishing QA team.
- High degree of self-motivation and initiative-taking.
- The ability to work on-site initially in Toronto is required.
Bonuses
- Previous experience as a QA Lead/Manager/Director on a shipped game.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 or other equivalent engines.
- Previous experience in small/medium-sized development studios.
- Previous experience with multiplayer/network/performance/Compliance testing.
- Good knowledge of using metrics to guide testing.
- Professional experience in beta testing or patch testing with live games.
- For candidates with Director-level experience, a QA Director position can be discussed.
