QA Engineer

At Avalanche Studios Group, we are looking for a QA Engineer to join our team to work on our upcoming AAA title Contraband - a co-op smuggler’s paradise game set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan. Contraband is a brand-new IP published by Xbox Game Studios. Avalanche Studios is the division dedicated to ambitious, externally published, AAA open-world games like the Just Cause series, Mad Max and Rage 2.

As a QA Engineer, you will be working closely with many different people within the different development disciplines. The ability to scope game features, identify & solve problems, create test plans, complete daily testing, and communicate clearly is required.

Your main tasks will be to perform functional and qualitative testing of gameplay mechanics and work-in-progress features, as well as write and deliver test cases. It will be your responsibility to report all issues in a bug-tracking tool, and you will be expected to have the knowledge and ability to write bugs to a high standard. You are proactive and can constructively communicate concerns, and work within deadlines. Actively promoting testing, build reliability & content quality within development is key.

Required Qualifications

• Solid professional QA experience in the gaming industry (PC & Console)
• Great analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of bug writing and bug tracking software.
• Experience with testing tools and live product(s) with a frequent release cycle.
• Proactive and solution-based approach to problem-solving

Nice to have

• Experience from working as embedded QA within a development team.
• Education in fields related to games
• Experience working with game engines
• Experience with debugging software and software crash outputs
• Experience working with version control systems
• Understanding of the development life cycle throughout
• Proactive, confident in time allocating, planning and solution-based
• Experience in working closely with production and various disciplines to plan and schedule testing around various requirements
