Project Manager / Producer

Rogue Planet Games in San Diego is looking for a Project Manager / Producer to help keep the PlanetSide 2 team on track and efficient with their ongoing release schedule!

The successful candidate will be responsible in helping create and manage production scheduling, team tasking, structure and efficiency. This person must be very process-oriented, flexible, and friendly and recognize the importance of maintaining morale and culture while getting the job done!

Your Contribution:

• Provide motivation and clear direction to ensure that project goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved
• Work closely with the Executive Producer to define, plan, and execute game initiatives
• Gather requirements for work effort from project stakeholders to build clear and concise project schedules and plans
• Own the product backlog, working with key stakeholders to prioritize and groom regularly
• Oversee deployment of game updates including feature publishes and hotfixes
• Act as conduit between development, QA, and leads, ensuring all requirements are documented, implemented, tested, and approved.
• Evaluate processes and strive for continuous improvement
• Oversee agile development progress, stand-ups, etc. and ensure a smooth workflow
• Lead and drive status meetings to be as functional and efficient as possible
• Identify, track, manage, and resolve issues
• Communicate schedules, updates, status, major decisions, risks, and blockers clearly and effectively
• Facilitate collaborative review processes between stakeholders and team members
• Follow change management process to capture change requests, communicate impact, request stakeholder decisions, and execute changes, if applicable
• Use data, metrics and statistics to determine the success of releases and updates
• Work with leads and managers to plan effective resource utilization
• Train and keep developers up to date on best practices for modern development teams and coach them on the benefits of implementation
• Coordinate, track, and manage the activities of project resources to ensure that project tasks are completed on time, within scope, and at acceptable quality

Your Knowledge and Experience:

• 2+ years managing projects utilizing formal project management techniques and tools
• Understanding of software development processes, software development life cycles, project management methodologies, and performance management
• Knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum) and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques
• Can function well under pressure given time constraints and deadlines
• Experience working with creative teams and support groups
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence with hands on experience in setting up projects and reports
• Knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement on process and overall game health
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in new or ambiguous areas where learning and adaptability are called for
• Previous gaming industry experience

Pluses

• Experience in a Live Game or Games as a Service business model
• Experience working on MMOs
• Certifications in Scrum and PMP/PMI
• Outsource management, pc and console development

Year-1 Success

• Minimize and strive to eliminate ambiguity
• Measurable reduction in number of cases where a developer is blocked by unclear or incomplete requirements
• Work with design and product leads to establish new and improved methods of documenting acceptance criteria for features
• Establish and maintain 12-24 month roadmap for product
• Formalize and organize existing backlog of product objectives into an actionable roadmap that is approved by leads and key stakeholders
• Set up mechanisms for change so that roadmap can be adjusted as necessary
• Maintain existing release-driven development culture for PlanetSide 2
• Spearhead operations related to delivering 4-6 major updates annually
• Facilitate feedback loop from players and QA to development, ensuring live issues are triaged, resolved, and deployed as quickly as possible
