Product Owner - Live Service Platform

Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a business minded Product Owner with technical understanding to take full ownership of the online social and data features and services of our games. These features include server-deployed (sometimes referred to as Backend) services that facilitate user account management, login, data collection, progression persistence, community management, running events, news feeds, friends lists / clans, matchmaking, in-game economy, dynamic game tuning, performance marketing, etc. This product suite is called Apex Connect.

As Product Owner, reporting to the CTO and part of the Central Technology group, you will drive the future product and business development of the Apex Connect platform. The role involves capturing requirements from our game teams in dialog with other Product Owners, understanding and representing the needs of our players and based on those, setting up business objectives and a corresponding product strategy for the Apex Connect platform.

As Product Owner, you will be responsible for developing the shared backend functionality of both internal and player-facing services which will be used primarily in our self-published games with millions of active users. This requires working closely with the game development teams to understand the requirements for game functionality. It involves communicating the opportunities, costs and value of various alternatives. It is also important to champion and oversee the adoption of the platform within game teams and ensure acceptance and delivery of value throughout the organisation and externally to our player base.

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Product Owner including the tasks of owning and managing a product roadmap, crafting product requirements, and specifications
• Understanding of backend services for games
• Good communication skills and can explain the complex in a simple way
• Ability to lead and inspire development teams.
• See technology development from a value perspective.
• Experience with developing back-end services and related concepts such as Service SLAs, up-time, scalability, etc.
• Extensive knowledge of working in a KPI-driven environment, and delivering ROI
• Experience with Cloud and Data Services and providers such as AWS, GCP, etc.
• Experience with Live Service products, including concepts such as monetization models, transaction handling, user account management, inventory management, business intelligence gathering, user acquisition, onboarding / funnelling, GaaS, in-game stores and currencies, etc.
