Product Marketing Manager - Defence Unit
Join our defence and national security business and you’ll be helping users plan and train to meet the most complex security threats in the world. Working alongside experts in AI and Machine Learning, computational modelling and distributed systems, you’ll be putting multiplayer technology to life-saving use.
The Marketing team sits within the broader Growth function (which includes business development, capture, partner, and customer success) in Defence and we are here to enable our business to grow and deliver against its mission: to establish Synthetic Environments as the core capability for national resilience and government transformation.
A fairly new team, you will be joining at an exciting time as we execute against the 2022 strategic plan and increase the velocity and impact of our marketing efforts. Working in close collaboration with the wider Growth team, as marketing we represent the voice of the customer and use that to shape our “go-to-market positioning”, or in other words, how we talk about and position our product. We plan our positioning, execute on it, and iterate on it, working closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure we are building products and features that solve customer problems and allow us to capitalise on market opportunities.
The role requires a broad skill set. Marketing is responsible for positioning and messaging an inherently technical product, so you need to be able to understand technical concepts and translate that into compelling marketing collateral, shaping the narrative we share with an audience made up of customers, prospects, partners and influencers. You need to work on multiple cross-team projects at once, and be accountable for their results, so you’ll be a good communicator, good project manager and well organised. You will need to have/quickly acquire a deep understanding of the defence market and our customers to support decision making, so you’ll have strong analysis and market research skills. Finally, we need to do everything possible to grow our business, so you’re adaptable, you work hard and are not afraid to try something new.
You’ll work closely with the product team, actively participating in keeping in regular contact with them and ensuring they’re looped in on all marketing and business development opportunities.
Our Mission
- To support Improbable Defence’s growth aspirations by building our brand, establishing and executing our product go-to-market strategy and driving inbound opportunities.
Areas of Impact
- Marketing is central to our success within Defence. Defining and communicating our offering to an audience who are mainly non-technical is no easy task. Supporting our market making activities by delivering a clear value proposition and building a strong feedback loop with our sales, partner, product and engineering teams is critical. You’ll be working on everything from messaging, marketing campaigns and content through to supporting demonstrations and evangelising our product in person when needed. The insights you capture and feedback, directly impacts what our Product teams prioritise and our Engineering teams build.
We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:
- Interpret the technical capabilities of our products for marketing and sales teams and translate that into selling language
- Work with Customer Success, Partnerships, Marketing & Creative to define our communications strategy and contribute directly to the prioritisation and creation of content and channel engagement
- Develop and execute innovative strategies and marketing plans that drive awareness, engagement, adoption, and customer satisfaction
- Partner with and coordinate a diverse group of stakeholders to inform positioning, marketing strategy, and execution
- Apply your in-depth understanding of our customers to act as a voice of the customer inside of Defence
- Engage in customer and prospect discussions when needed (such as at events or trade shows), advocating for our product and services whilst also capturing their feedback and thoughts to inform our direction of movement
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
