Product Manager, Defence

Improbable has created SpatialOS: a networking solution combining low latency, tools for faster iteration, and a ready-to-go architecture capable of supporting innovative games.
Now the Improbable Defence division, building on the backbone of SpatialOS, has combined world class scientific modelling, market leading AI, mission specific user interfaces and a uniquely flexible and secure deployment model to create a powerful simulation platform tailored to the needs of the military.
Our mission? To enable the most realistic and effective military simulations ever experienced, making defence users more effective on operations and decreasing the cost of military preparedness.
Your Mission
This role focusses on the long-term value proposition of the synthetic environment technology platforms that we are building in Improbable Defence. You will work collaboratively with our engineering, design, PMO and strategy group to influence our mid and long-term product roadmap, ensuring we are building the right features at the right time and bringing value to our customers and partners. It is a key role, central to the success of our Defence offering.

Your Impact
- You will develop a deep understanding of our customer needs & their approach to synthetic environments for decision-making. You will also become and expert in our offering and how it fits into long-term patterns of the market and our competition.
- Using this knowledge you will define the product roadmap & lead definition of releases.
- You will work collaboratively to define and prioritise product requirements.
- You will shape our product vision leveraging customer feedback as well as feedback from our BD, Sales, Engineering and Advisory teams.
- Working with our Head of Product, you will help shape business cases for investments.
- You will be a key provider of product knowledge to our product marketing, BD and customer teams. We expect that you will support positioning & messaging efforts to differentiate our offering and help create the marketing & sales collateral to reinforce this.
We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:
- You have demonstrable experience shaping product roadmaps for complex data-driven or simulation products. Similarly we're interested in product managers with experience building B2B products for large enterprise customers.
- You can point to successful product launches which have delighted users; bonus points for Defence or Simulation products.
- You have a demonstrated ability to develop repeatable processes or improve existing processes in and out of product development.
- You have a natural empathy for engineers and data scientists, likely through experience in that role earlier in your career.
- You can synthesise a broad range of data points, technical concepts and market indicators to produce sensible, well-gated and defendable product roadmaps.
- You are able to say no or not yet; using data and expertise to know when features or directions will not create enough value for customers to be worthy investments.
- You are have a developed business acumen and entrepreneurial streak that keeps one eye on the bigger picture while maintaining excellence in day to day execution
