We're a remote-first company, but we believe people should be able to work where they can be most productive. Currently, we can employ in the United States and Canada. We also have offices in Los Angeles and Seattle for those interested in hybrid or full-time office work.
We are looking for a Principal UI Artist driven by a passion for crafting the visual elements that guide players through our game. In this role, you'll have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a new IP, shaping the gaming experience for players. You will be responsible for developing the visual style and language that brings menus and interfaces to life, striking a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functional design. Collaborating closely with our Art Director, Design team, and Engineers, you will work across disciplines to ensure intuitive gameplay spaces and visually captivating user interfaces. Your work will directly impact player immersion, engagement, and empowerment, making this role pivotal to the success of our game.
Responsibilities
- Collaboration with various disciplines across the studio, including design, art direction, engineering, production, and marketing.
- Establish the UI visual language, including iconography, typography, visual hierarchy, brand expression, and motion, in alignment with the game's art style.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of the game, ensuring continuity between the art style and visual design.
- Ability to directly implement your art/designs into the game.
- Partner closely with our UX designers to deliver high-fidelity UI components that align with our product goals.
- In partnership with the Art Director and Production team, estimate, scope, prioritize, and schedule your work.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design for video games. Proactively incorporate innovative ideas and design techniques to enhance the overall user experience.
Requirements
- 7+ Years of experience as a UI Artist/Visual Designer in video games, OR have shipped at least two multiplayer AAA games.
- Deep expertise in graphic design principles, typography, layout, color, and iconography.
- Experience creating workflows in Unreal Engine.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating experience in creating style guides, visual language, icons, menus, and work for games.
Nice to Haves
- Demonstrated experience working with FPS engines like UE4, UE5, etc. and modern UI pipelines
Compensation: We believe that a team that builds together wins together. Because of that, our compensation packages consist of competitive industry standard base salaries, an annual bonus, and royalties. For this specific role, the base salary range is $160,000 to $210,000, with the final salary offered dependent on job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
