Job Description
As a Principal Multimedia Engineer in our Platform Camera and Multimedia team, you will focus on the architecture and implementation of multimedia services in Mixed Reality systems. This position will offer you the chance to work on developing and implementing new and creative algorithms to solve dynamic problems. Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain platform multimedia services and APIs
- Design and implement innovative multimedia features for Mixed Reality systems.
- Help instrument and optimize the performance of the multimedia pipeline
- Lead a small team of direct reports on software engineering initiatives
- Provide status updates to manager
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience with C and C++
- In-depth understanding of Linux, tools, libraries and open source development
- A strong skill set in core video/audio technology, system-level use cases (video playback and live streaming)
- Experience with Multimedia frameworks such as StageFright, OpenMAX, FFmpeg, and GStreamer
- Experience with ABR streaming protocols such as MPEG-DASH and/or HLS
- Knowledge of the design, implementation, and optimization of hardware-accelerated codec software
- Experience with optimization of media pipeline for reduced latency
- Experience with OpenGL|ES/Vulcan
- Experience implementing and optimizing multimedia services with game engines such as Unity and Unreal is a plus
- Very good oral and written communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams that are geographically distributed
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant field; Masters Degree highly preferred
