Principal Engineer- Web Development

Overview

Bethesda Softworks is seeking a talented principal engineer to join our growing team and shape our digital marketing presence. This role focuses on the design and development of customer facing web applications for our players.

As a principal engineer, you will work with the digital marketing manager and brand teams to apply modern web technology to reach existing and new customers. You will evaluate and help shape high-level requirements and propose creative solutions. Leading a small team of engineers, you will be expected to oversee the development of new and existing web applications, provide technical direction, and shape processes and best practices that help the team deliver solutions that are timely and of high quality.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering staff in day-to-day assignments
• Ensure technical solutions meet department goals/milestones and are delivered on time
• Guide the development of web application architecture and feature development
• Write and review technical design documents
• Implement departmental procedures that produce robust and high-quality software, including development cycle and release management
• Contribute to architecture and feature development as necessary
• Establish support for live systems including troubleshooting, hot fixing, and operational monitoring
• Perform code review and feedback for engineering team members
• Ensure consistency with company-wide security and accessibility standards
• Manage relationships with other engineering teams, such as Security, QA, NOC, and studio partners
• Collaborate with a design team to implement and iterate on features
• Research modern technology trends to propose cutting-edge solutions to marketing needs
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• 2+ years of experience in a managerial role
• Previous experience with engineering large public-facing web applications
• Experience with global, consumer brands and marketing products
• Experience with web analytics and data-driven business goals
• Understanding of web API services (JSON, REST)
• Experience using cloud infrastructure particularly content delivery networks (CDN), CICD systems
• Pragmatic approach to providing engineering solutions that solve business needs
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative and team oriented
