Principal Content Designer

The Principal Content Designer will plan, oversee the execution of, and ensure the quality of compelling game content from concept through the live service environment. Working with a growing team of talented designers, the Principal Content Designer will also maintain a consistent and cohesive direction for the team members' individual design efforts. The most successful individual in this role would have experience shipping previous games-as-a-service (preferably either MMOs or open world RPGs) and have a passion for creating compelling game content for an enthusiastic and highly engaged audience.
Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with the Director of Game Design in leading the Content Design team, setting vision and strategy
- Oversee content design process and ensure a high level of quality in Proletariat's games
- Design and implement high quality mechanics, quest chains, and compelling content with a focus on thrilling and delighting players of massively multiplayer games
- Drive content design through all iterative development phases, from concept to live operations
- Improve game content in response to performance indicators and customer feedback
- Document learnings and experiences from prior updates for the benefit future ones
- Champion best practices and facilitate collaboration between Design and other departments
- Advise project leadership and discuss key product and design decisions
- Support the growth of colleagues through mentoring and knowledge-sharing opportunities
- Create and maintain an inclusive, collaborative, and healthy company and product culture
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional work experience in the games industry, or a similar industry, required
- Previous experience launching or working on massively multiplayer games preferred
- Experience with version control software, such as Perforce
- Experience with 3D game tools, such as Unity, Unreal, or Maya
- Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Lua, C# or similar languages preferred but not required
- Experience evaluating and/or designing solo and/or group content
- Ability to collaborate with a narrative team to convey story through quests and other gameplay
- Ability to take high level strategy or complex ideas and translate them into understandable tasks
- Ability to take feedback and criticism, and enjoy working in an inclusive, collaborative environment
- Strong organizational skills; ability to hold self accountable to deadlines while keeping track of minute details as well as the big picture objectives
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong documentation skills including design proposals and game design documents
