Platform Engineer - Data Foundations, Defence
1 year ago
Our team develops the data integration tooling and frameworks that support the development of scalable, secure and auditable data storage, appreciation, transformation, and analysis solutions that underpin and are produced by simulations.
Our deliverables enable modellers and engineers to create and run large, complex, and realistic simulations that enable government and defence organisations to better understand and prepare for action in complex environments so that they can preserve peace and minimise damage and loss of life.
Area of impact
- Build data management tools and services for storage, analytical, modelling and verification (data provenance) use-cases.
- Implement tooling and define practices to facilitate the creation of data flows that supply operational and analytical systems.
- Collaborate and consult with data producing and consuming teams to assist in writing ETL scripts and code to make sure the process performs optimally.
- Support the build of data streaming and batch systems.
- Research and evaluate new technologies based on needs and feature requests from customers.
We would like to hear from you if you identify with any of the following
- Experience in developing APIs and libraries supported by automated tests (e.g. unit, integration) and documentation as code.
- Golang experience would be ideal (with Python being useful but not essential)
- Experience of working within cloud infrastructure and services
- You've worked in a Docker & Kubernetes environment
- Data Security: The tools and services we build solve for: Security at rest, Authorisation, Integrity and classification
- Experience across data streaming (Kafka). orchestration tools (Argo or Airflow) and data management (across governance, modelling and integration) would all be beneficial but not essential
You may not have all the above skills! We want to show you the breadth of the opportunity in terms of the skills and experience you could develop by working with us.
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
