Payroll Specialist, Advanced (Contract)

The Payroll Specialist (Contract) is responsible for all aspects of the company’s multi-state bi-weekly payroll, including data entry into the HRIS, timekeeping administration, processing bonuses, wage garnishments, and other special payments, maintaining payroll records, and creating and running reports. As a member of the HR Operations Team, this employee will participate in other special projects as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Process accurate and timely biweekly payrolls utilizing ADP WorkforceNow
- Provide administration oversight on expat payroll tax matters
- Interface with employees regarding payroll-related questions and issues
- Research and resolve problems from employees and HR teams as they relate to the processing of payroll information, and make appropriate recommendations for solutions
- Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc payroll reports, queries, and conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity
- Assist in the processing of garnishments, overpayments, vacation payouts, and other special payments as well as employment and unemployment verifications
- Route payroll files for internal approval and final submittal for each pay cycle
- Ensure new hire, pay change, special payment, and termination data is accurate, complete, and submitted timely for each pay cycle
- Ensure the integrity of the payroll data, including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, special payments, and rate changes and make updates as necessary.
- Assist with changes for direct deposit, tax withholding allowances, addresses, etc.
- Create and update annual payroll calendar and time entry cut-off schedule
- Create and maintain process documentation of workflow and business processes
- Act as the systems subject matter expert for ADP Payroll and Time and Attendance
- Prepare quarterly federal and state tax reports and payments as it relates to payroll
- Provide audit assistance as needed
- Review timekeeping entries to ensure accuracy of information, working with managers on any timekeeping issues
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
- Strong time management, organizational and problem solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Must be proactive with strong initiative; a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and possesses the ability to take on new tasks with little guidance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service with internal and external contacts
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to handle periods of increased workload and deadlines
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and employ effective time-management skills
PLUSES:
- 5+ years payroll experience utilizing ADP (or comparable) payroll system
- Experience working with HRIS systems
- Multi-state payroll experience
