Phoenix Labs is looking for a Payroll/Benefits Administrator to oversee all aspects of payroll processing and administration, as well as manage our employee benefits programs. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail & results-oriented and be excited by working in a dynamic and evolving environment.
This will be a 3-month contract to start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll processing for Phoenix Labs employees in various locations including Canada, the US, and Europe, for both salary and hourly employees. This includes processing new hires, terminations, compensation adjustments, personal information updates, deductions, bonuses, and changes to benefits premiums.
- Process various payroll reports for audit purposes.
- Manage the organization's benefits plan, ensuring accurate enrollment, termination, and change processing, as well as reviewing and validating invoice premiums.
- Lead domestic and international payroll tax compliance, as well as associated reporting, which includes but is not limited to: SF HCSO, NDT, EEO-1 report, ACA, T4's/RL1's, T2200's, TP-64.3's, CNESST, WCB and EHT.
- Maintain our internal HRIS system (BambooHR) as well as our payroll software systems up to date.
- Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors.
- Respond to payroll & benefits inquiries from employees or external partners.
- Liaise with the HR team, government departments, and other internal and external associates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Human Resources Management, or equivalent work experience3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience in a dynamic environment.
- 2+ years of experience with Canadian benefits administration; US benefits administration experience is considered an asset.
- experience with G/L reconciliations and accounting entries.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian and U.S payroll regulations.
- Strong team player with a commitment to professionalism and excellent customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as outstanding analytical skills are required to deal with all clients and internal/external stakeholders effectively.
- Aptitude for troubleshooting.
- Works well under pressure and manages tight deadlines.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Completed courses from the Canadian Payroll Association certification program preferred.
- Experience with using Ceridian, Microsoft Office, Gsuite, Slack & BambooHR along with advanced data entry skills would be an asset.

Phoenix Labs covers the cost of basic medical for employees and their dependents, in addition to offering generous Dental and Paramedical Services. For 2023, we match employees' contributions to their RRSP up to 5% of their salaries. Canada Pay Range
$68,000 — $100,000 CAD
