Payroll Analyst, North America
San Mateo, CA (onsite/hybrid)
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE or PlayStation) seeks a Payroll Analyst that will support our North American Payroll Operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on operational experience supporting both the US and Canadian workforce.
This role will deliver on our 3 Pillars of Success: 1). Timely and accurate payroll processing; 2). Champion and extend our service-first approach; 3). Promote and advocate continual progression of our capabilities.
As Payroll Analyst you must leverage your exceptional organizational skills to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You must be passionate about Customer Service and self-driven to provide timely responses to inquiries received in PlayStation’s CRM. You will use your critical and analytical thinking skills to resolve issues and be comfortable in situations where details may be limited and/or ambiguous - realizing how the pieces of the payroll puzzle fit!
With your analytical thinking abilities and fundamental payroll operational knowledge, you will have the opportunity to participate as an essential part of SIE’s business. In this role, your responsibilities will span across both functional and technical areas; involve various internal and external stakeholders with a focus and drive to support and deliver on the complex needs for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Support the SIE-Payroll Incident Management area to ensure requests and inquiries are fulfilled in accordance defined SLAs.
- Be hands-on supporting the team with preparing necessary documentation and pay data templates for payroll transactions such as, but not limited to employee withholding, time data and check adjustments, tax withholding and garnishments.
- Support routine HR master data auditing to ensure source-to-target synchronization.
- Support technical issues surrounding the daily data integration between SIE’s HR system of record (WD) and payroll system (ADP).
- Support payroll reporting requests from the broader business stakeholder community across the various Sony divisions.
- Support post-payroll reconciliation and balance activities as assigned by the Operations Lead.
- Support the SIE Payroll Operations Lead with developing procedural artifacts in support of SIE Payroll’s process documentation initiative.
Qualifications:
- Proficient using MS Excel to prepare and analyze data.
- Proficient using MS Office Suite of applications (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
- At least 2 years of direct experience using ADP systems and tools - Vantage (US) and WFN (CAN) preferred.
- At least 2 year of experience working within an outsourced payroll environment (ADP COS preferred).
- Knowledge of time/labor and absence management concepts and practices.
- Familiarity of wage and hour laws and taxability of wages – especially for California-based employees (EDD).
- Exemplary service delivery skills with a genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service to our business partners and most importantly, our employees.
- Self-driven with exceptional time management skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting with minimal supervision, as needed.
- Have payroll processing experience for companies with 5000+ employees or more.
- Participated in payroll process design workshops; supported process documentation such as standard operating procedures and job aids.
- Understanding of system integration and data exchange principles (source to target).
- HR IT/systems experience including Workday HCM, ADP applications: MyADP, ADP4ME, SmartCompliance, and ServiceNow CRM.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$90,600 — $136,000 USD
