Organic Environment Artist

Oxide Games is looking for an Environment Artist to join our team, working on a new IP AAA game with a first party publisher. Qualified individuals will work hands-on to set the benchmark of quality for assets in game. Candidates will be organized, have excellent communication skills, and be able to support both internal and external art resources.
Responsibilities:
- Help build and maintain our studio’s Substance library
- Create 3D models, primarily bushes, trees, and rocks (high/low poly models)
- Work within Substance Designer to procedurally texture assets as well as crate tiling textures
- Asset support for in-game integration
- Work with other art discipline and other departments to help develop systems and tools to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines for game art assets
Requirements:
- 3-5 years as a professional artist in video game development – experience must be beyond internship
- Experience as a team member on a shipped title
- Must have professional experience with Substance Designer
- Understanding of PBR rendering and materials
- Proficient with at least one 3D software (3DS Max, Maya, Modo, Zbrush, etc)
- Experience creating 3D models (modeling, texturing)
- Experience with SpeedTree
- Experience with following concept/reference
- Motivation to keep up to date with latest 3D art pipelines
- Proven ability to manage and organize work in order to complete tasks within production deadlines
- Open to receiving guidance, review notes and constructive feedback, and incorporating that learning into your day-to-day work
- Willing and eager to work with Oxide’s proprietary game engine (Nitrous) and support its future development
- Experience creating both Stylized and Realistic materials
- Passionate about playing video games
As a Plus:
- Familiarity with game engines (UE4, Unity, etc) and or renderers (iRav, VRav, Arnold, etc)
- Excited to work with organic assets
- Ability to abstract paint
- Houdini experience
- Environment Lighting knowledge
- Experience working with both internal and outsourced art team resources and pipelines
