Operations Associate (Taiwan)

Metatheory Inc. is a technology-driven entertainment company. With a focus on blockchain, we build games, interactive multi-platform stories, and virtual world experiences imagined across innovative story franchise IPs. We are a remote-first dynamic team of builders, developers, and entrepreneurs that include key founding members from Twitch, as well as Emmy and Peabody Award winning producers and storytellers.

Our flagship IP is DuskBreakers, an eccentric, interactive sci-fi saga set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious alien ship (The Dusk) becomes a beacon of hope for humanity. The franchise spans games, video, NFTs, and other media formats.

We are seeking an Operations Associate for work based in the Metatheory office in Taipei. This person will support all operational initiatives in the Taiwan office while working closely with colleagues in other departments (e.g. Taiwan finance team and global operations team) to manage ongoing Ops projects. We are seeking a bilingual (Mandarin & English) individual to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities

• Work closely with local finance team to manage payroll, payments and bookkeeping
• Support recruitment and HR initiatives in conjunction with global People team
• Manage ad hoc projects and analysis related to operations, finance, and HR / admin
• Identify project risks and collaboratively problem-solve to ensure rapid solutions to any project issues
• Support Taiwan office management initiatives
• Liaise with global operations team to make sure offices are aligned on ongoing initiatives
• Provide leadership with regular status reports

Requirements

• Bilingual capability (fluent in both English & Mandarin)
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in a professional environment (accounting or HR background preferred)
• Experience with Taiwan’s HR / payroll systems
• Experience with Taiwan’s recruiting channel and process
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Strong business acumen
• Proactive qualities with the willingness to learn
• Ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision
• Proficient in technology especially Microsoft Office applications

Candidates should be comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, fluid, and ever-changing startup environment with a globally distributed team. We are currently remote first and will always embrace work from home culture, although we may have some more offices in the future. Candidates should be excited about the future potential of blockchain, but no prior experience is required.

Metatheory is committed to fair and equitable compensation for all of our employees. The salary range for this role is NT$600,000 to NT$800,000 annually plus equity. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and specific work location.
