Kano ( www.kanoapps.com ) is looking for an HR and Office Administrator to support our growing team and ensure a tightly run ship. This position is open to either part-time or full-time hours.

The first goal of this position will be to manage our beautiful new office, as well as support our existing team. You will be working with the People Ops team to help plan events, as well as maintain and improve daily processes. Once you are familiar with our culture and have our space and processes running smoothly, you will take on an HR support role.

This position is well suited to someone who is self-motivated, is able to work autonomously, and has a high level of ownership over their work.

Over the last year and a half, we’ve functioned as a primarily remote team. That is about to change as we’ve just moved to a new and improved office and are getting it ready for a re-opening. Our team will continue to work in a hybrid environment, and this role will help support that. While we are very flexible in terms of scheduling, this specific position will have an in-office requirement and thus preference will be given to candidates who are willing to work Monday - Friday at our downtown Victoria office.

In your first month you will...

  • Familiarize yourself with the new office and set up a great environment for a hybrid work team
  • Order, purchase and track equipment for both in-office and remote employees
  • Support the People Ops team with onboarding new hires: ordering equipment, sending swag packages, software setup, purchasing, and tracking
  • Join the social committee and support our next event

In your first 3 months you will...

  • Coordinate and manage budgets and purchasing with staff, vendors and the finance team
  • Identify and mitigate points of friction in day to day business procedures
  • Event management support. You’ll be responsible for supporting and coordinating events both great and small (lunches, parties, team off-sites, etc) with our Admin Coordinator
  • Be the main point of contact for our team; thus you must be g reat at communication - across teams, departments and up the chain
  • Take over and run our OHS committee
  • Understand and uphold our company culture and the values of our organization!

Within your first year...

  • Help with hiring and recruitment (screening resumes, applicants etc.)
  • Own Onboarding: the key point of contact and responsible for onboarding of all new staff
  • Offer Performance Management support

Qualifications:

Need to Have:

  • Organizational skills and MAJOR attention to detail
  • 2+ years of experience in either office management, administration, or customer service
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • proficiency in google suite (or similar applications) -- especially in google sheets (or excel)
  • Familiar with the following (or similar) software: zoom, slack, g suite

It'd be a big plus if you have:

  • Previous experience in a startup environment
  • Experience with ensuring compliance around licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations
  • Interest or experience in HR or People Operations. As part of the People Ops Team, this role has the potential to grow into a Human Resources role in the future.
