Multi-player & Online Services Game Engineer

As a Game Engineer for Multi-Player & Online Services, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network systems, ensuring the smooth and efficient online operation of our games. Your expertise in online services and game networking will be instrumental in supporting our development and porting efforts.
This position is full-time, hybrid (with regular work from the office and a few days of WFH each week) and will be based out of our studio in Debrecen.
In this role, you will:
- Develop the game logic and architecture for multiplayer games using the Unreal Engine and Epic Online Services.
- Design and implement features for game network synchronization, game mechanics, and game play.
- Debug and optimize game code for performance and scalability.
- Implement server-side code for multiplayer gaming services.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing multiplayer game code; ensure smooth online functionality in all games by identifying and resolving any network-related issues.
- Optimize network performance to ensure smooth and efficient gameplay.
- Collaborate with other programmers, writers, sound designers, and artists to create a high-quality online multi-player gaming experience.
- Utilize analytics to test, measure, and optimize the game performance.
- Monitor and address any player issues with the game or services.
- Remain up-to-date with the latest trends in game development technology.
Ideally, you have:
- Experience working on at least one shipped Console game using Unreal Engine.
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine and its networking capabilities.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and technologies, such as client/server architectures and peer-to-peer networking.
- Ability to design, implement, and debug game engine components related to multiplayer functionality, such as lobbies and matchmaking.
- Knowledge of multiplayer game development techniques and best practices, such as lag compensation and network prediction.
- Ability to work with the game design team to identify and address key technical challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
