Assistant Motion Capture Technician

EA’s Vancouver-based Motion Capture Studio, EA Create Capture, serves the data acquisition needs for the majority of EA’s game development world-wide. In our state-of-the-art studio we capture a wide spectrum of data types – 3D scanning, virtual cinematography, and motion capture to name a few. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the team with the creation of 3D likeness and digital characters with use of EA propriety technologies, as well as your experience and knowledge. Successful candidates will work closely with modeling teams at both the capture lab, as well as, development teams processing large volumes of photogrammetry data using EA’s proprietary pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create high quality character likeness assets for use in game
- Batch process 2D images into 3D assets using photogrammetry tools
- Manage incoming data from our 3D scanning productions and condition it for automation
- QA 3D scan data and troubleshoot as needed
- Knowledge of blendshape correctives
- Experience with retopologizing software and workflows
- Maya (preferred) or similar 3D animation software experience
- zBrush (preferred) or similar 3D sculpting software experience
- Data wrangling, to and from, various mix of teams
- Communicate feedback, both written and verbal
- Support development of proprietary art pipeline and workflows
- Support the acquisition team during performance sessions as needed
- Work closely with art teams to establish / maintain visual target while in production
- Works well under the pressures of ‘live’ production environments
- Exceptional time management

Although not required, strong candidates possess
- Minimum 2 years character modeling experience within video game, television, film or other related industry
- Photography and/or 3D scanning experience
- Knowledge of photogrammetry technology and tools
- Understanding of human facial movement
- Knowledge of wrapping and projecting volume and textures to 3D models
- Knowledge of the Facial Action Coding System
- Keen interest in emerging technologies
