Machine Learning Scientist / Engineer

Creative Assembly is looking for an experienced Machine Learning Scientist / Engineer to join our talented R&D Team, based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.
As a Machine Learning Scientist / Engineer at CA, you will contribute to increasing the quality of our games and game development processes through new innovations.
You will be collaborating with game teams to tackle complex challenges within Total War games, and development workflows. Some examples of potential areas would be data-driven AI behaviour in turn based or real time strategy games, data-centred decision making, player modelling, automation, and testing.
You will have the opportunity to bring novel ideas to the table and educate people on the topics you will be working on across the franchise.
Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. Key Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Influence and contribute to our R&D roadmap and develop research projects
- Carry out the ML focused research needed to launch new features for our games, or for our development processes
- Work in collaboration with game development teams, to innovate and bring CA’s games to a next level
- Help improve the R&D culture at CA through staying current with new research contributing to training materials and mentoring more junior members and graduate students.

Essential
- Work experience in data science with a focus on machine learning and familiarity with standard techniques, relevant tools and libraries
- Having delivered one released product with machine learning
- Deep understanding of modern supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and algorithms
- Strong analytical skills working with data and data visualisation
- Experience with modern machine learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras)
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R
- Ability to focus on work independently but also comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- Being able to work well across teams and other disciplines
- Good communication skills
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
Desirable
- Experience in Gaming industry
- Ph.D. or M.S. degree in a relevant field
- Published work in known publications and/or conferences.
