Your Mission
The Manager, Revenue Accounting is responsible for overseeing the month-end revenue recognition close in accordance with US GAAP and ensuring compliance with company policies and SOX. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting, this person will manage the monthly Activision & Blizzard revenue close covering various revenue streams. Responsibilities include regular month-end close tasks, including review of journal entries, customer billings, reconciliations as well as performing tasks within the Revenue Management system in order to maintain the general ledger (GL) of Activision Blizzard. The position will also help to develop and maintain accounting procedures as required, preparation of management reporting materials, perform analyses, and liaise with external auditors.
The position requires working closely with Corporate Accounting, Management Reporting, External Reporting, Senior Management, External Auditors, Business Units, and other financial teams, in order to meet reporting deadlines and provide critical and recurring analysis to aid management decision-making. This person will be challenged to apply critical thinking and analytical skills along with disciplined project management experience to meet tight deadlines and evolving business needs.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
Period Close and Forecast Cycle Activities
- Responsible for accurate and timely booking and recognition of various revenue streams, including Battle.net, digital, licensing and retail revenues, for both GAAP and internal management reporting measures.
- Review routine and non-routine journal entries, allocations, and adjustments to ensure proper recognition of revenue in support of the period end close activities.
- Prepare and/or review revenue system setups and processing.
- Review general ledger account reconciliations and deferred revenue rollforwards.
- Prepare and compile presentation materials for internal management reporting.
- Analyze revenue results compared to AOP, forecast and historical trends.
- Work closely with various Distribution Partners, as well as internal Digital Finance and Sales teams to ensure timely reporting of sales data and performing analysis to explain variances between accruals vs. actuals and actuals vs. forecast.
- Review and document terms of new digital distribution and licensing agreements, working closely with Technical Accounting to assess proper revenue recognition treatment in accordance with US GAAP and company policy.
- Work with various cross functional teams regarding requests/inquiries on proposed or current revenue transactions.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls over revenue transactions and reporting. Recommend changes to reports and processes to improve productivity and accuracy.
- Support the external audit team to ensure all information is provided in a timely and accurate manner during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Oversee a staff of 2-3 direct reports at the senior and analyst levels.
Special Projects
- In depth involvement in migration to new Revenue Management software tool, including user acceptance testing, hands on involvement with internal IT and external vendor, and training for revenue team members.
- Participate in special projects and recommend and implement improved policies and procedures to ensure revenue and expenses are appropriately recorded.
- Assist with testing of upgrades and/or enhancements as part of IT quarterly release cycle, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Player Profile
Minimum Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting
- Minimum of 6 years of professional accounting with experience in revenue recognition.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
- Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite or similar ERP is required.
- Must possess strong analytical skills with ability to problem solve.
- Must be highly organized and able to deal with a high volume of data.
- Ability to work proactively and independently and with a team in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
- Must possess strong work ethic and willing to work extra hours and weekends during quarter-end and year-end closes in order to meet deadlines.
Extra Points:
- Experience in public accounting a plus
- Experience with Revstream Revenue Manager, other Revenue Management software, OBIEE Answers and Hyperion is a plus.
