Manager, Business Strategy (Music & Events)

As the gaming landscape continues to collide with entertainment, we're building a new team to bring Riot's IPs to players around the world through music and live events, and invite new audiences into the fold. The Global Music and Events team will acquire and develop original music, and create virtual and live IP experiences that deepen players' and fans' connections to the universe we've created to build a next generation, global entertainment company with gaming at the center.
As Manager, Business Strategy, you will support our ambitious efforts as a senior level strategy professional by partnering closely with creative leadership, providing a consultative approach to help drive product development. The work will span research, strategy, and data analysis to develop a best-in-class program to grow Riot’s worldwide music and events presence. You will develop a knowledge of the Riot Games’ audience, their motivations, their media usage behaviors and preferences that will deepen our understanding of how to connect with players and fans. You will report to the Sr. Director, Insights.
Responsibilities:
- Work with creative teams to translate product ideas into business plans that integrate into the Riot ecosystem. This might include creating presentations that outline objectives and desired outcomes, identifying revenue opportunities, or building a framework for greenlighting new product development
- Identify and accurately size target audiences for products through custom work and usage of syndicated data early in product development
- Set a roadmap for development of required audience insights, partnering on prioritization with creative/product leadership and fellow insights and strategy professionals
- Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence teams, to build reporting capabilities across a suite of distribution platforms
- Manage internal and 3rd party vendor research projects, timelines, and budget; incorporate findings into business plans
- Collaborate closely with strategic finance to set business goals; develop a strategy for reporting and performance measurement against desired outcomes
- Develop a strategy for use of social analytics and listening tools to obtain insights around audience motivation and sentiment
- Lead a small team of researchers/analysts; support the growth and development of junior team members in their craft
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years experience in business strategy/consulting, analytics, consumer insights, or related experience
- 2+ years directly managing a team
- Experience using insights and competitive intelligence to build recommendations for product initiatives
- Professional experience implementing quantitative and qualitative research methods, including focus groups, survey design and fielding, data analysis, and presentation of findings
- Experience working with and deriving insights from syndicated data platforms such as YouGov, NPD, Nielsen, or similar
- Experience building reporting tools, developing visualizations from large datasets (e.g. Tableau)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in the music or live events industry
- Experience in SQL or a scripting language
- Experience building dashboards, reporting tools, and revenue models
